"What is Pink Lemonaid Orange Marmalade?"

Pink Lemonaid Orange Marmalade is a cosplay group based in western Canada. The name is often shortened to PLOM as the full name can become a bit of a tongue twister! They are actors, costume designers, and all together just a group of people interested in costuming. Hold on, but what is a cosplay and why in a group? As the description reads at the right hand side: Cosplay, short for Costume Play, is a performance art that centers on costume design and acting. The participants create and wear costumes and accessories to represent certain characters from fiction. This can range from movies to books to even video games! There are other subcategories that include historical dress and characters made up by the participant. As for the group part, this allows you to compete in skit and group contests, which now and again can be a blast!

"How we turned into PLOM"

PLOM was founded in a strange way. In the kitchen of a friend while eating Japanese candy, we decided we'd rather face the world of cosplay as a group instead of all alone. Ever since, we've been taking our hobby by storm. We perform regularly, constantly stay in touch and use each other as moral support, not just with Cosplay but with the "real world" as well.

"Pink Lemonaid Orange Marmalade, what a strange name..."

It is isn't it. Well, we couldn't decide on a name so we looked around the kitchen we were sitting in. Before us was a case of Hard Lemonaid and some Orange Marmalade which was waiting to be returned to the fridge. We thought for a while about which would be the preferred name until it was obvious none of us would ever be able to make a decision. And so, we switched up Hard for Pink and stuck the two together. Ta-da, enter Pink Lemonaid Orange Marmalade stage left.

"Who is in your group?"

At the moment we're an all girl group! Our original troop was of four but we often have other cosplayers join us. The original four each took on one part of our group's name as their stage name, creating Pink, Lemonaid, Orange and Marmalade. We're also lucky to have Trekkie-Chick join our ranks!

Here's a little bit about us:

 Pink

Hello I am Pink, I am a fun loving girl looking for a good time... just kidding.

I am a part time school go-er and a part time cosplayer you could say. I am brash, outgoing and pink. My first cosplay was accidental, kinda. I did my best effort at Ichigo from Tokyo Mew Mew for the halloween of 2008. Since then I have done Sasuke, Kakuzu (Naruto), a fem-Pikachu, Italy (Hetalia), Meyrin (Black Butler), Alex DeLarge (Clockwork Orange), and finally Ririka (Empty Empire). I have volunteered at tsukino-con as a waitress for three years now, and have attended for the last five years. My favorite thing is the rush you get when you put on an extravagant cosplay and go into public places to show off all your hard work. In the future I can see myself helping run conventions like I have done in the past along with putting together some more epic cosplays!

Lemonaid

Hi. I'm Lemonaid. I started cosplaying in 2010, I'd never even sewn before but my heart was set on completing Hetalia’s Succession Austria. And so I did and I fell in love. I'm a little addicted to lace, frills and elaborate pieces. I love flouncy coats and sumptuous makeup, anything that makes people stop and wonder how I managed to create something so intricate is right up my alley. I was one of the first two that sat down and decided to form a group.

I love photography as well; therefore there are fewer pictures of me as I am regularly behind the camera.
I am an actor, commissioned seamstress and full time student. I love costumes and adore meeting new people interested in similar hobbies.

Orange

Hey there, around these parts they call me Orange. I started cosplaying back in February of 2009 at the first ever Tsukino-con in Victoria B.C. I've come quite a ways since then; I've mastered the art of hot gluing, making armor, speed sewing and all together being a cosplayer. I was one of the original two that decided to form this group.

I’m an artist by trade, a love FMA (Full metal alchemist) and lots of other manga and anime. I’m part of Umbrella Corps and volunteer regularly at conventions all around. I’m one of the more experienced cosplayers of PLOM and look forwards to everything we’ll do together in the future.

Marmalade

I'm Marmalade, but I like to think I'm Lady Marmalade because I am a high class girl.  My pastimes include studying history, reading, writing, and having existential meltdowns (thank you Camus). I first started cosplaying around 2009. My friend convinced my to try it out, and I had a surprising amount of fun. My first cosplay was probably Princess Leia or Dorothy, but that was when I was five and four respectively for Halloween. My first legitimate cosplay was Lithuania from Hetalia. From there I moved on trying out different costumes for Halloween, such as Altair and a Bioshock splicer. Eventually I started doing more serious cosplay as I moved away from Hetalia and now I do everything from Stocking to Anne Boleyn. Having varied interests make it hard to choose a cosplay, but my dream costumes are any of the assassins from Assassin's Creed (most likely fem!versions) and Jack Aubrey from the Aubreyad books (though I would need to grow half a foot and gain 140 pounds). Have I the chance and the money, I would also love to dress in lolita fashion (another of my pastimes includes doodling lolita dresses). Who knows? You might see lolita Altair at a convention some time.

A little bit about my other-than cosplay interests: I love history, culture, art, and literature. I avidly study naval history, particularly Nelson's navy, as well as Japanese history and the Islamic Middle East. I mostly doodle rather than do actual art; I love character and fashion design but being colourblind limits my artistic ability. As for literature, anything goes, though my favourite literature generally comes from the 19th century. Romanticism to Nihilism: it fascinates me all.

Trekkie Chick

Hello!~ I'm Trekkie Chick, the newest member of Pink Lemonaid Orange Marmalade.

I'm 17 years old, I grew up in Victoria, and in a few weeks, I'll officially be in Grade 12 at Oak Bay High School. Next year will be very VERY busy, but I definitely hope that I'll get time for cosplay projects with the group. I'm not very experienced: in fact, Grell Sutcliff (from Kuroshitsuji or Black Butler) is my first real cosplay! (Real here meaning not a wig and a plaid shirt, or being Spock for Halloween) Pink Lemonaid Orange Marmalade has been an invaluable resource for me getting started, despite me being a complete newbie. But I'm pretty hopeful about my future cosplays with the group. When I'm not shopping for costume pieces or doing complicated makeup tests -my specialty!- I do a lot of dancing, baking, reading, schoolwork, babysitting, and volunteering with ISHS. That, and spending time with my boyfriend, who doesn't understand this hobby at all...sigh. Anyway, hopefully one day I can be as talented as the other members of this group. Practice makes perfect! My other goals include going to medical school after university and maybe one day, learning how to put on a wig properly! Fingers crossed!
